U.S. Senator Richard Shelby, on Obama: “You have to be born in America to be president.”

Hat Tip and shout out to Villager at Electronic Village and Black Politics on the Web for the link to the story involving U.S. Senator Richard Shelby and a town hall meeting in Cullman County, Alabama. Senator Richard Shelby spoke on the continued rumors of U.S. President Barack Obama’s citizenship.

The Cullman Times reports:

Another local resident asked Shelby if there was any truth to a rumor that appeared during the presidential campaign concerning Obama’s U.S. citizenship, or lack thereof. “Well his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven’t seen any birth certificate,” Shelby said. “You have to be born in America to be president.”

AAPP says: The Alabama paper stands by Shelby story. Villager, over at Electronic Village has the proof of Obama's citizenship on the Electronic Village blog. I guess these southern conservatives are still trying to understand how a black man is U.S. President. Right Wing Pundit's and other on the extreme right will need to "move on and get over it."
