NAACP President Ben Jealous Your Wrong. Shirley Sherrod Is Right!
The National President of the NAACP is disgrace and a sell-out and should consider resigning as President of the national NAACP. He is part of the new crew of colored people advancing their own agenda, not a black empowerment or capacity building agenda. One blogger, Gina at What About Our Daughters is on point when she says:
"I thought Jealous was a young idealistic fool, but instead he's turned out to be a cynical mealy mouth coward of the highest order... and jelly-spined did I mention jelly-spined?"
Ouch Gina! But your right, Ben Jealous is full of it. He is a fake. Check out his bogus remarks:
I also agree with Gina at the blog What About Our Daughters who writes:
"The NAACP is really the NAAMCP (National Association of Male Colored People). Tell me how the NAACP's male President starts some MESS with tea partiers and a Black woman ends up being the one to lose her job? Not only do they only appear to mobilize solely for the benefit of humans with penises, they have a proclivity for throwing Black women UNDER the bus and then shanking them in the back."
AAPP says: President Barack Obama should also consider requesting the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and (others involved) to resign as well.
Why? Because of what they have done to Shirley Sherrod, the USDA's director of rural development for Georgia, who was pressured to resign Monday when a video surfaced in which she told an NAACP audience that she had not given a white farmer "the full force of what I could do" to help him save the family farm in 1986, when she worked for a Georgia nonprofit group.
As reported by the Washington Post, LA Times, CNN, and many other news oulets, progressive bloggers (and of course the dishonest redneck bloggers who the NAACP and Barack Obama seem to follow). Yes, Shirley Sherrod was smeared by the NAACP, The Obama administration, and of course the right-wing media that distorted the truth and tried to destroy a black woman through character assassination. Get this, The National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People initially condemned her remarks, which were publicized by a conservative blogger and picked up by of all folks the bigots at Fox News and that other conservative blog.
Watch the full video of Shirley Sherrod below. She is a powerful woman who the NAACP initially attempted to destroy!
There is more, get this, as reported by the LA Times, on Tuesday, when the video of her full speech was released, the NAACP retracted its condemnation and called on the USDA to rehire her, saying it had been "snookered" by Fox and conservative website publisher Andrew Breitbart. And the farm couple involved in the incident stepped forward to defend Sherrod, calling her a friend and saying that she saved their farm.
I'm glad to hear that their are a number of coalitions supporting Ms. Shirley Sherrod, at least they are showing more character than the "NAACP President Ben Jealous" which had originally condemned Sherrod's comments, and worked to destroy her. Now the NAACP is involved in the Cover Your Ass (CYA) strategy of blaming the white media for their own rush to judgement. Speaking of rush to judgemement, it looks like the President's handlers did just that. As reported in Politico:
In a closed staff meeting Tuesday morning, a senior administration praised elements of the White House's initial response to a partial video of a speech by a Department of Agriculture official -- a response that the Administration has since reversed. White House officials yesterday afternoon told reporters they did not press Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to demand the resignation of Shirley Sherrod, but that they stood by the hasty decision; last night, they took credit for pressing Vilsack to rehire her when a fuller video revealed that her remarks had been edited to mean the opposite of what she said. But three Democratic sources said Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina singled out the White House's initial response to the incident for praise in the regular 8:30 a.m. staff meeting Tuesday morning. The sources differed on the substance of Messina's praise, but concurred that he had praised the speed of White House communications in response to the flap, which was driven by a misleadingly-edited video posted to Andrew Breitbart's Big Government website. One source, who is unhappy with the administration's handling of the incident, paraphrased Messina's remarks: "We could have waited all day – we could have had a media circus – but we took decisive action and it’s a good example of how to respond in this atmosphere."
Now the fake ass national office of the NAACP is acting like they were used by Fox News and Andrew Breitbart, claiming they had "snookered" the NAACP and the media.
Whatever, NAACP! Campbell Brown is right.
As I said earlier, The National President of the NAACP is a disgrace and should consider resigning as President of the NAACP. President Barack Obama should also consider requesting the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture to resign as well. Infact, the President should be asking any of his handlers who screwed this up to resign as well.
It's interresting that the NAACP would attack this strong black woman, without checking the facts. In a rush to judgement, yet, The NAACP and Barack Obama just recently supported the head of the former West Virginia head of KKK, who served in the United States Senate for the great work they said he did for America - Whatever!
There are some black bloggers who are willing to give the NAACP a pass. Not me!
You see the NAACP has been getting passes, for the past 30 years. This is the same NAACP who accused Wells Fargo and HSBC of forcing blacks into subprime mortgages while whites with identical qualifications got lower rates. This is the same NAACP that filed lawsuits against Wells Fargo and then dropped the law suit against them in order to gain sponsorship for their national convention. The NAACP has no credidabilty in the black community, other than putting on somewhat wacked image awards.
Thank you Faye Anderson, of Anderson at Large and the great folks at Booker Rising for following this issue.
UPDATE: The NAACP is asking the Obama administration to rehire Ms. Sherrod. This is one of the many reasons why the NAACP President should resign. First they attempt to destroy a black woman's career, then they say, oops.. the white Fox News Network made us do it.... what a disgrace...
I have been pointing out the disgrace of the NAACP for sometime.
I agree with Ms. Sherrod when she said, "I've done more to advance the causes of civil rights in this area than some of them who are sitting in those positions now with the NAACP."
She is right about the national office of the NAACP, "They need to learn something about need to know about her. They need to know what she contributed through the years."
Ben Jealous at the NAACP, White House Aides, nor USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack have walked in her shoes, and have not even begun to pay their dues...
Join me tonight on my blogtalkradio program, as we discuss the issue of Shirley Sherrod, color, racism, color aroused hatred Barack Obama and the NAACP.
