Hillary, News Media and Rev. Jeremiah Wright; Obama Is Rolling In Superdelegates, While Hillary and Media Stuck On Color Arousal Politics

AAPP: Here is an interesting story about American Politics. As Barack Obama takes the high road, Hillary and her surrogates take the low road, all the while Obama continues to gain on the superdelegate front. I guess, Obama has his "eye on the prize," while Hillary and major media outlets have their eyes on their own color aroused ignorance. But then again, should Barack be held accountable for his pastors comments?

Obama Cuts Into Clinton's Delegate Lead Among Elected Officials

Source: Bloomberg -- Barack Obama has pulled almost even with Hillary Clinton in endorsements from top elected officials and has cut into her lead among the other superdelegates she's relying on to win the Democratic presidential nomination.

Among the 313 of 796 superdelegates who are members of Congress or governors, Clinton has commitments from 103 and Obama is backed by 96, according to lists supplied by the campaigns. Fifty-three of Obama's endorsements have come since he won the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses, compared with 12 who have aligned with Clinton since then.

``That's not glacial, that is a remarkable momentum,'' Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri, a superdelegate and Obama supporter, said in an interview. ``I don't think there is anything that will slow that down.''

Democratic elected officials have the most at stake in the nomination because the candidate at the top of the ticket in November will have an impact on state and local races.

In the overall race for superdelegates -- elected and party officials who automatically receive votes at the Democratic National Convention that will choose the nominee -- Clinton leads Obama in commitments by 249 to 212, according to an Associated Press tally.

The trend, though, is running against the New York senator. Since March 5, the day after she won primaries in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Obama took Vermont, the Illinois senator has won backing from nine superdelegates and Clinton one, according to the campaigns and interviews.

Obama's Lead

Both sides agree her chance to win the nomination rests on winning a significant majority of superdelegates because Obama is likely to maintain a lead of at least 150 pledged delegates - - those won in primaries and caucuses -- after the last contest is finished. If he does, Clinton, 60, would have to snag more than 70 percent of the remaining 334 or so superdelegates.

Clinton also has suffered defections, notably Georgia Representative John Lewis, a prominent civil-rights leader and early backer of the New York senator, who switched to Obama.

Underlying the movement to Obama, 46, is some politicians' calculation that he'll be the strongest candidate to face Republican Senator John McCain in November.

``All along he has been the one person McCain does not want to run against and that is still true,'' said Senator Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat who endorsed Obama last month. More HERE

AAPP: Meanwhile, The Washington Post is following the remarks made by Obama's pastor. OK, I don't get this, is Obama's pastor running for President?

Check out the report by Washington Post writer, The Sleuth: The Sleuth who writes:

Obama Disavow's Pastor's Remarks

She writes: Looks like Barack Obama is kicking his crazy uncle out of the basement.

The Democratic presidential hopeful has compared his longtime pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, to an "old uncle" with whom he doesn't always agree. But with the controversial preacher's racially inflammatory remarks and sermons burning up the Internet over the past 24 hours or so, the Obama campaign had to respond with some tough love.

In a posting on Huffington Post, Obama called Wright's statements "inflammatory and appalling" and said, "Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue."

Among his most controversial statements, Wright said African Americans should sing "God Damn America" instead of "God Bless America." And he suggested that the Unites States invited the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with its own "terrorism."

Wright just retired from Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where Obama, his wife, Michelle and their two young daughters attend. But Wright's sermons have been immortalized on the Internet -- unfortunately for Obama.

In one, Wright told his congregation the reason why "so many folks are hating on Barack Obama" is because he doesn't "fit the model: He ain't white, he ain't rich and he ain't privileged."

"Hillary [Clinton] fits the mold," Wright said, delivering a fiery tirade on how "Hillary never had a cab whiz past her and not pick her up because her skin was the wrong color," and how "Hillary never had to worry about being pulled over as a black man driving" and how "Hillary was not a black boy raised in a single parent home."

He also said Hillary has never been called the "N word." (Wright used the actual word.)

On Huffington Post, Obama wrote, "The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation. When these statements first came to my attention, it was at the beginning of my presidential campaign. I made it clear at the time that I strongly condemned his comments. But because Rev. Wright was on the verge of retirement, and because of my strong links to the Trinity faith community, where I married my wife and where my daughters were baptized, I did not think it appropriate to leave the church. "

As you can see in this mocked-up YouTube video, which came from Fox News, Republicans could have a field day using Wright as ammunition in a general election contest against Obama.

Todd Harris, a veteran GOP political strategist, tells us, "There are hundreds of churches in Chicago to choose from but Obama picked the one with a racist preacher who is anti-American and anti-Israel. This guy makes Louis Farrakhan look like Hello Kitty and we're going to have a field day with this."

AAPP: Its interesting that the media has nothing on Barack Obama, so it keeps trying to dig-up dirt on his former pastor. As reported by the Washington Post; ABC News reviewed dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons and found "repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans."

What do you think about the pastors comments?
