Politico, The Clinton Myth and Black Folks

Jim Vandehei & Mike Allen in their Story behind The Story article in Politico about The Clinton myth are pretty much on point when they wrote, "The notion of the Democratic contest being a dramatic cliffhanger is a game of make-believe." They also write, One big fact has largely been lost in the recent coverage of the Democratic presidential race: Hillary Rodham Clinton has virtually no chance of winning. AAPP: Jim Vandehei & Mike Allen are so right. African American voters are key to a Democratic win in the general election. Hillary will never be able to get back black voters at 70-80%. If Hillary is chosen by Democratic superdelegates, they not only risk a backlash of historic proportions from the party’s most reliable constituency-African-Americans, but many white, Latino, and native American voters as well. I can say it is all but guaranteed that black voters would turn away from voting in the general election in large numbers.

I do disagree with one portion of the article when they wrote, "As it happens, many people inside Clinton’s campaign live right here on Earth." That is a point I'm not totally sure about. If the Clinton team actually lived here on earth her advisor's would have advised her to never insult the black voter base as she and Bill have. OK, but look at this, now all of a sudden they are concerned about black voters. They came out with a political memo asking staff to treat the Obama Pastor issue with extreme caution. The New York Times reports Clinton advisers have asked their allies not to talk openly about the issue, for fear it could create a voter backlash and alienate black Democrats. Whatever! Come on folks, we now know Bill and Hillary Clinton really never connected with black folks, it was all - you know, "color aroused politics." It is obvious to this blogger what needs to happen.

As NPR noted, A "drumbeat" has started to sound in the media the past week with the speech on race by Sen. Barack Obama and with the announcement of Bill Richardson's endorsement of Obama - "this could be the beginning of the end for Clinton." More HERE.
